Caring for Dry Skin

Dry skin can be a challenge both to care for and to live with. Your skin may become flaky at times or even become red and irritated. Dozens of over-the-counter products promise to end the cycle of dreaded dry skin once and for all, but sometimes those miracle cures just can’t follow through on the performance.

There is no need for you to be stuck with dry skin, though, and there are simple changes you can make in your skin care routine as well as your daily life that will have a big impact on the condition and health of your skin. Why live with dry, irritated skin any longer? Make a few changes in your routine and watch as your skin becomes vibrant and healthy in a matter of a few weeks.

Dry skin results from a lack of sebum or oil production. Sebum is made within the skin cells and is vital to having healthy, elastic skin. Since dry skin does not make enough oil, you will need to replace it both from the inside and outside.

Begin addressing the outside issue by finding a moisturizing cream that is rich but not overly heavy. Creams that include soothing ingredients like chamomile and aloe vera are excellent for handling dryness and redness at the same time.

Now you should consider the inside treatment – take a good hard look at your diet and determine exactly how healthy it is. Your skin is the largest organ of your body and needs to be nourished just like every other body part. The best supplements for your skin include Omega-3 oils (which contain vital components for smooth skin), Vitamin E, and a complex B vitamin. Providing your skin with the proper nourishment is one of the best ways to improve your dry skin.

Nourishing dry skin both inside and out is the best approach to healing. When your skin has the necessary nutrients and can use them in cell repair and rebuilding, the outside appearance will improve exponentially. You even get a nice bonus through improved health and body function – that’s multi-tasking at its best.

Also, check those great skin care products and enjoy a beautiful and young looking skin.

Acne - More Great Tips

Tip 5 – Do not touch your facial skin too often! The bacteria that causes acne (Propionibacterium acnes) is a normal resident of your skin. It does not however lead to acne until it is trapped inside the hair follicle. You should therefore avoid tpuching your face extensively, including resting your chin in your hands! It can drive the bacteria into pores where it can begin its dirty work and cause acne.

Tip 6 – Remember to take a shower after working out. Your skin generates heat when you exercise. The heat and the moisture are trapped against your skin until you shower off. Therefore remember to take a shower as soon as you can as the heat and moisture are the perfect breeding ground for acne bacteria.

Acne - 4 Great Tips

Many people wrongly think that acne is caused by dirt, and really, it is not! It is caused by lots of factors, and the problem is that you can’t control them. The factors include your hormone balance and the natural pace of your skin’s renewal system. Luckily, there are quite a few things you can do to keep your acne in check. Please follow the below tips to keep your acne skin free.

Tip 1 – As I have already mentioned, acne is not caused by dirt, so washing your face over and over won’t make it go away. Therefore, do not over-wash for face. Try to limit yourself to two washings a day. Washing your face too often will leave your skin dry and acne-prone areas irritated. Moreover, over-washing might also cause extensive oil production which than can result in more breakouts.

Tip 2 – Do not use harsh scrubs. Exfoliation is good, but make sure that you use a gentle formula with small and smooth grains. Do not use products that consist of apricot or almond shell fragments. They will most probably irritate your skin and cause more acne.

Tip 3 – Avoid products with alcohol. Avoid toners with isopropyl alcohol or common rubbing alcohol. Alcohol dries your skin which causes extra oil production.

Tip 4 – Don’t squeeze or pick your blemishes with pins, fingernail and anything else. It will force bacteria deeper into your skin and therefore causing greater inflammation and infection. Moreover, you will also damage the surrounding skin which might cause scaring.

Cream and Lotion for Dry Skin

There are lots of cosmetics available on the market these days. It is sometimes very difficult to decide which cream will be best for your skin. There are plenty great creams and lotions available, but there are also products that will do more harm than good. It is however very difficult, almost impossible, to know whether the particular cream or lotion is good for your skin, before actually trying it.

The reason why some creams are harmful to your skin is quite simple. All the creams and lotions consist of lots of chemicals which might cause allergic reactions.
I would therefore suggest you use natural creams and lotions. But how do you know whether the cream or lotion is 100% natural? You can never be sure unless…you prepare it yourself!

Below are two recipes for a cream and a lotion which you can prepare at home. They are 100% natural and, therefore, can’t harm your skin.

1. Honey Cold Cream for Dry Skin

You will need ¼ cup of honey, ¼ cup of vegetable shortening, 1 tablespoon of grounded almonds, 1 teaspoon of lecithin, 2 tablespoons of bee pollen, 1 egg yolk (at room temperature) and 1 teaspoon of rosewater or cologne water. Once you prepared all the ingredients it is time to mix them well.

You will notice that the cream has a bit of grainy and oily texture and in addition to using it as a cold cream it can also be used for sunburns and as conditioner to the hands before doing outside work. The above amount of ingredients will make about ¾ cup of the cream.

2. Dry Skin lotion

Ingredients needed: 1/8 teaspoon of Borax, ¼ c. of distilled water, ½ c. of fractionated coconut oil, 1 tablespoon of grated beeswax, 1 teaspoon of scent (add it slowly to adjust the scent of the lotion to your liking), 1/8 teaspoon of lecithin, ½ c. Aloe Vera Gel.

Combine borax and water and heat them almost to boiling. In a meantime, in another pan mix beeswax with oil and heat till the wax is melted. Now, very slowly add borax/water mixture to oil/beeswax mixture stirring briskly. For stirring you can use either small wire whisk or a handblender. Add scent during whisking (again, do it slowly) and leave to cool to room temperature. Once the lotion reached room temperature, it is time to add Aloe Vera Gel and whisk, so it is fully mixed with the lotion. Bottle and you have just made yourself a great, 100% natural lotion.

Getting Rid Of Unsightly Dark Spots

There are some unfortunate people who despite having an excellent skin regimen end up with dark spots on their skin. One of these causes is hyper-pigmentation or rather patches of discolored skin that remain long after pimples have cleared and gone.

Aging is another cause of dark spots on the skin. Yet another reason is an unhealthy diet or even an illness. People who regularly ingest a great deal of iron in the form of tablets can also have skin that tends to discolor. Hormones gone haywire during pregnancies is another reason for discolored skin. When your body lacks in Vitamins A, E or B, the end result could be hyper-pigmentation.

There are several ways in which you can get rid of the dark spots on your face. The first is to maintain a healthy diet. Make sure that you are getting all the necessary nutrients and that the food you are having is fresh and timely. Give your body and skin enough of hydration by drinking a lot of liquids and fruit juices.

When it comes to skin care, have your skin analyzed by dermatologists. Chart out a skin care regimen and follow it to the T. Certain simple tips to get rid of dark spots is to use a good sunscreen that will prevent your skin from being affected by the harmful UVA and UVB rays of the sun. A sunscreen with an SPF of 15 and above and of the water-proof variety would be great.

If you suffer from acne or regular outbursts of pimples, make sure that you do not pick the pimples. They have to run their course and die out naturally. Scars left from pimples can cause what is known as melesma. If you are prone to oily skin, go in for regular facials, use natural toners like lime juice on your skin and moisturizer that is oil-free. Washing your face three to four times a day will help control oiliness and thereby reduce the dark spots on your face.

There are several topical creams that you can use to get rid of dark spots. Of course you will have to do this under guidance of a dermatologist. Besides a good sunscreen you could use products that have hydroquinone in them. There alternatives like kojic acid and alpha-arbutin that are believed to be more natural. Of course the market is flooded with several products of various brands that claim to get rid of your dark spots and give you a flawless complexion.

If you want to use Nature to try and get rid of those dark spots then you could try using some tea tree oil on the blemish. Regular use of this oil can make dark spots fade away. Also when rinsing your face. Alternate with hot, then real cold and then hot water again. This will open your pores. Cleanse them and seal in the freshness. Use an appropriate moisturizer soon after.

Also you can go in for dermatologist-recommended treatments that include laser treatments of various kinds.

Please check this great correction pen and enjoy beautiful skin today!

Milk for Beautiful Skin

Milk has been used for ages as a skin care product. Milk has been so popular because of its great nourishing properties. It contains sugars, natural pigments and minerals. Moreover, lots of known enzymes and vitamins can be found in milk. Also, milk fat is also very useful as it is rich in lecithin, vitamins and unsaturated fatty acids.

The easiest way to use milk is by washing your face with it. Wash your face regularly and you will see the results very soon. Your wrinkles will start disappearing, and your facial skin will become lighter, softer and more elastic.

Milk products contain emulsified oils, proteins, milk acid and fat soluble vitamins. They are easily digestible by your skin, soften and smoothen your skin and improve metabolism and blood circulation.

Milk masks are great for your skin yet they are very easy to prepare.

Mix cottage cheese, milk, carrot juice and olive oil (all 1:1) and you have just made yourself a multipurpose nourishing mask.

If you would like to bleach your freckles and pigmented spots there is another great milk mask for it. Mix ¼ glass of sour milk and one spoon of oatmeal to make a paste. Place it between two layers of cheesecloth and put on your face. In addition to the above benefits, this mask is also great for greasy skin.

You can also mix 3 teaspoons of cottage cheese and 1 teaspoon of honey to prepare a mask that will not only bleach your skin, but will also moisten and nourish it.

There is also a great mask for dry and fading skin. Mix 1 tablespoon of cottage cheese, 2 tablespoons of sour cream and 1 teaspoon of cookery salt. Blend the ingredients and apply the mask on your face for about 10-15 minutes, twice a week.

To smooth out harsh and dry skin you can use green peas flour and milk mask. Simply mix 2 tablespoons of flour with 2 tablespoon of milk whey and put on your face till it dries out.

If you are over 40 years old then you should try cottage cheese mask. Mix 2 tablespoons of cottage cheese with 2 teaspoons of vegetable oil and juice from a half of orange. This is a great mask for mature skin! Make sure you try it!

Keep Your Skin Younger Looking

Everybody would love to have the kind of skin that draws compliments. Many falsely think that great skin is only the boon of celebrities. There are several women who are good examples of the fact that good skin care is all it takes to have and keep younger looking skin. It is often noticed that caring for one’s skin often takes a backseat in the rigmarole of daily life. Here are five good skin care tips that will ensure that you are looking your best.

Good skin care begins with the most of basic of needs. On a regular basis most of us spend a good deal of time outdoors, for work or otherwise. Being exposed to the sun without adequate coverage can result in damage to your skin. So the first step is to ensure that you wear a good sunscreen. Apply the sunscreen to all the exposed parts of your body. Anything higher than a sun protection factor or SPF of 15 will work wonders for your skin. Also remember that if your sunscreen is not water-proof then you will have to reapply it once you come out of your swimming pool.

The next important step in good skin care is to remain moisturized. Though drinking a lot of water and liquids helps, there are times you will need some outside help. Use only good skin care products. Ensure that you are using the right cream at the right time of the day. Try and avoid air-conditioned rooms. If it is inevitable then you should try and get yourself a humidifier. To improvise you can always use of pot of steaming water next to you.

Hydration is another very important step. This is more so in winter when your skin has to fight the elements which cause it to go dry. Drinking water constantly helps. Among the other liquids, tea is a better bet over coffee simply because it does not contain caffeine which does not work well for skin. A lot of seasonal fruits juices without much dilution with water will also help to a large extent.

Good skin care also involves the food that you take in. It is often said that you are what you eat. Taken literally, what you eat will actually reflect on your skin. A good diet is what is always recommended. A healthy mix of fresh vegetables, fruits and the right kind of carbs, oils and fatty acids can work miracles for your skin and will go a long way in keeping it younger looking.

And last but not the least, good skin care also means that you look after it well. Try and protect it at all times from harsh weather. Do not overdo make up or constantly keep your pores closed with foundation. Always cleanse off all the makeup before you retire for the day. The process of cleansing, toning and moisturizing twice a day is very important. Pamper your skin occasionally by going in for facials and massages. These therapeutic massages go a long way in ensuring that you have younger looking skin.

Taking Care of Dry Skin - Part 2

Today I would like to continue my article on how to take care of dry skin.

Stay out of rooms that are overheated. Also avoid sudden changes of temperatures. You should also make sure that you are well protected from wind and sun. It is important that you are well protected from the sun as it might cause even worse dryness, wrinkles, exfoliation and breaking-out. If you can’t avoid the sun, use a good sunscreen to protect your skin. In winter, make sure that you apply strong moisturizer before you go out.

Use herbs, as they are really effective for dry skin. To remove dead skin cells use Aloe Vera. It is healing, soothing and also moisturizing. You might use Aloe Vera gel but also Aloe leaves (either fresh or frozen). Comfrey and calendula have skin softening properties and can be used in a facial sauna. You can also use them to make floral or herbal teas which you can use for washing your face.

Another important thing is a balanced diet. Eating well is good for your health and your good health shows on your skin. Make sure that you add vegetables, fruits, seeds, grains and nuts to your diet. Eating lots of vegetables provides your body with quality protein. Also remember to eat plenty of yellow and orange vegetables (carrot is great for example). These vegetables are high in beta-carotene which is an antioxidant. In order to keep your skin smooth and young, eat garlic, eggs, onions and asparagus which are high in sulfur.

Carrying for your skin is a constant process. You need to be patient as well as effects will be visible after some time. Follow your healthy routine and the steps above and you will enjoy beautiful and healthy skin.

Taking Care of Dry Skin - Part 1

The problem with dry skin is that a low level of serum might cause premature aging and sensitivity. This type of skin often has a parched look because of its inability to retain moisture. Dry skin feels irritated and uncomfortable after washing if you did not use any moisturizers and skin creams. Dryness is also worsen by wind, air-conditioning and extreme temperatures which all cause the skin to feel tight, chap and flake.

How should you take care of your dry skin?

Dry skin needs regular massage, gentle cleansing and a lot of oil and moisture. You should use neutral-PH products to wash your face. Do not use antibacterial soap too often as it removes too much oil and therefore makes the skin even more dry. Avoid washing sodas and powders which are high in alkaline and drying ingredients. It is also important that you touch your face skin gently.

After a shower or a bath apply a little of baby oil. Before going to bed apply moisturizing cream. Remember to do it daily, as only daily car can give you good results. Do not forget to moisturize your skin after cleansing to prevent drying out. Use cosmetics (facial oil or liquid moisturizer) that consist only natural ingredients.

Another important thing is to moisten the air in your bedroom. Moisten the air by keeping a glass of water in your room. In winter place it near the heater, in summer you can put it in front the fan, or on the table if you use air-conditioning.
